Location
The Meneghetti estate is woven into a network of dry Mediterranean grassland, oak forests and coastal macchia not far from the seashore. Its presence in the natural environment is only revealed in the grid of vineyards and olive groves and the occasional dusty macadam road.
Design note
An unexpected "small scene" of the winery's surroundings, a colorful explosion that frees up a small and enclosed space squeezed within the vast expanse of the estate.
The space, squeezed between the tasting room, the buried production building and the administration building, is visible from only a few points as we move through the space, so it acts more like a backdrop that invites exploration and play.
The Labyrinth Garden is completely different in style – soft, dominant in color, with rounded shapes and rich in perennials that bloom alternately throughout the year. The edges of the garden, bordered by buildings, are softened by deciduous maple trees whose crowns will soften the visibility and existence of the objects around the garden in perspective.
It is a space of formal and stylistic "blending", of nuanced transitions between the orthogonal design of the approach to the Winery and its natural environment.
All the control and order that was achieved in designing the approach to the Winery is completely liberated here.
